The food security sector was established in 1982.
14600 Faddans have been reclaimed and cultivated with field crops and fruit in El-Nubaria, El-Tal El-Kebir, wadi El-mullak, Shobra shehab by the use of the modern techniques of irrigation; besides setting up the green houses.
12 ranches for cattle have been established to contain 6 thousand cattle to produce milk as well as establishing various integrating projects such as cattle ranches- poultry- honey hives- …. etc.
The food security sector includes 3 plants for producing 9000 tons of milk products per year.
In 2009, the food security sector established processed cheese plant at sixth of October plant in Nubariya with a capacity of 1500 tons/year.
